Pissed Pistopherson
I'm just a little mad at our next President:
NY Times article on the FISA/NSA wiretapping vote (I think login is required)
I understand that, hey, we're in the general election now, dude, and, like, he's gonna be a different candidate than he was in the primaries. And I am admittedly a battle-scarred, cynical, liberal-ass voter. But give me a break - even Hillary voted against this nonsense bill (yes, I know, she can afford to). Disappointing in light of his previous stance on the issue (filibuster, anyone?). I don't see the political "reality" in this. It's especially troubling in light of his other recent semi-significant flips.
Oh, I dunno, maybe I'm just being alarmist. But I've been so willing to fully commit to Candidate Barry, in both heart and wallet, that seeing him move to the center (as the Dems so often do in the general) just stings a bit. You wouldn't allow a good friend to get away with an analogous breach of trust without calling bullshit, right? So let's call it what it is.
I'm with my friend Miguel on this: ANY vote supporting the policies surrounding the Patriot Act is a BAD vote.
P.S. Back on offense (defense?), however - the New Yorker editors are indeed wearing asshats. Satire only works when, oh, say, more than half the country understands that Obama ISN'T a radical Muslim. Poor taste and poor judgement.
YR FRIEND
DANA
